Born and raised in the Upper Peninsula, Julie graduated from Calumet High School and obtained a bachelor's degree in Merchandising and Design from Northern Michigan University. After college she lived on Nantucket Island as well as Chicago for many years before returning and appreciating the area where she grew up.
